I wonder if there is some hidden gem of a rule that will allow an owner to lace up the skates and play. I just picture Mario putting on his old 66 jersey, tapping Sid on the shoulder, and saying "I got this. Go rest".
One can dream... |

Seems like Streit should stay in the top 6 if/when it gets healthy. It's interesting to compare the trade costs of Hainsey (2nd) and Streit (4th) |

The Pens need Hornqvist. If he is 70%-75% and without a major injury, I bet he plays.
Even though I don't believe It was all Fleury's fault, Murray should be the starter for game 4.
If Murray starts and Hornqvist plays, I believe the Pens will win game 4. It might go to overtime, but the Pens can win it! |

Streit played well except for one play in which he couldn't make a play and stop the Ottawa player from scoring on Fleury (I think it was the 2nd goal). Streit needed to get the puck or tie up the players stick or do an illegal cross check like most D do in the playoffs.
In any event, I think the Pens should play Streit instead of Hainsey, but it probably wouldn't happen. The Pens need to go with 6d and 12F's. They tried 7D and it didn't work!

My understanding is Streit played a lot on the right side.
I would like to see:
Dumo-Daley/Streit
Cole-Streit/Daley
Maatta/Rhuwedel

I see no reason that sid. Or geno. Vacant benefit from Wilson and Rowney. They could take turns double shifting with those guys and maybe actually play in the senators end. Or put Wilson on aids line permanently and rowney 3 c. |

Why would you want Daley in the top 4? I don't even think I would want him in the lineup. |

Didn't Sully learn from the Caps series that 7 dmen is a mistake. You can't play in a high stakes game with a different partner every time you hit the ice. It doesn't work and you burn out your forwards double shifting them. You have good options at forward in the black aces use one of them. Archie or Sprong could easily step in. Right now I'm hoping and hoping for a Hainsy injury because he is awful. Need Shultz back for next game.
Dumoulin Streit
Shultz Maatta
Cole Ruhwedal
Make a 4th line of Archie Rowny and Wilson they are a wrecking crew when the play together. Rowny has played so well I think he should be a full time Penguin next year. He's always making something happen. Move Cullen to 3c and put Boner on the wing for a game. Bonino is not an option moving forward for next year. Let someone else pay him. |

Who else are they going to play??? I'm sure Hainsey will play, but do you bench Daley or Streit or Rhuwedel? My lines all have a more defensive Dman paired with a more offense Dman. I don't know what Hainsey is!

Wilson needs top 6 type minutes. He is the only player that looks like he cares. And he is a nice deterrent for these borderline hits the Pens have taken. |

Not looking good for Shultz.
From pens inside scoop:
Schultz is the only player missing from #Pens practice. Rust and Hornqvist skated on their own before.

You are correct It is MURRAY Time. Especially because this is a critical road game and Murray has shown that being on the road really does not bother him. He has a calming effect on this team. You hardly ever see pucks rolling around in the goal crease with chaos ensuing. MAF has a problem and it sometimes leads to UGLY goals and deflating ones as well. We have seen First Shot Fleury, Four Goal Fleury, Last shot Fleury (as in O/T), Fish Flopping Fleury and Shut out Fleury, Shaky on the road Fleury. What we need is a consistent goalie, steady and rock solid. No softies and no Uglies
All adds up to MURRAY TIME |

He is the BACKUP goalie. You go to the best you have and that ain't MAF on the road |

Pretty much everyone for the Pens played poorly last night. Can't blame it all on Fleury (even though he was terrible) but I do think going with Murray is the prudent move. He played well in relief and has a steadying presence for the team. After the first goal the whole team deflated.
Ottawa isn't shutting down Crosby as much as his wingers are. Sheary has been awful and needs to be put down on the 4th line. Guentzel has not played well either but I am confident he will turn it around. Sid needs someone who can possess the puck a bit.
I also think its about time they get Sprong practicing with the team. He might be a bit of a liability defensively but at least he can shoot the puck. Kessel, Crosby and Malkin seem to be the only guys in the lineup with a shot.

Regardless of personnel this team needs to get the lead. Make OTT open up a bit and take chances. Biggest factor in this series is going to be can the Pens get an early lead and make OTT come out of their D-Zone Bunker Down Shell.
In order to do that they've got to get some bodies in front of Anderson and get some shots from the slot......high or low. Everything to this point has been low danger shots/scoring chances hence 1 goal/game. |

I would certainly use Wilson over Sheary.....even on the 1st line. Ryan's article is critical of Bones (rightfully), but Sheary is killing them too.
